Rollout Video Installment
Kinetic mirroring is a technique in GSY that stimulates the action of muscle groups that may be habitually outside of voluntary control (sensory motor amnesia), and helps to de-activate them, passively. It does not reprogram muscles like pandiculation, however provides a sensory experience that invites the client to witness muscles releasing muscular tension and this can assist in the reeducation of the soma.
Another way to describe Kinetic Mirroring is where we shorten a muscle group while the client remains passive. In other words, as GSY practitioners, we take over the job as the mover: We bring the insertion and origin of the muscle group closer together, and hold that position until that muscle group releases on their own. This can easily be incorporated into the Somatic Movement Flow® Celtic Cross, before we add pandiculation.
